Martin returns to his slapstick roots as he takes over the character of bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau. When soccer coach Gluant (Statham) is murdered, the Pink Panther diamond he was about to give his girlfriend, hottie pop diva Xania (Knowles), disappears. Ambitious Inspector Dreyfus (Kline) assigns the case to Clouseau and his partner Ponton (Reno), knowing they will botch it and he can take over and save the day. Martin maintains a ridiculous accent and leaves destruction in his wake, but the effort is wasted in a tired retread. Clive Owen has a cameo as Agent 006, spoofing superspy James Bond.
