Lame conceit has comedian Brooks play himself, more or less. He's asked by the State Department to spend a month traveling in India and Pakistan in order to figure out what Muslims find funny and write a government-sized (500 pages) report. Why this would matter is best left to the bureaucrats. There are some funny moments but not enough to carry the film, and Brooks' mild-mannered neurotic is something of an acquired taste.
