Georgia Byrd (Queen Latifah) is a shy New Orleans salesclerk with a passion for gourmet cooking and a habit of setting her dreams aside. This changes when Georgia is (mis)diagnosed with a fatal disease that gives her only weeks to live. She decides to make the most of her time by giving herself a makeover and a holiday at the ritzy Czech Grandhotel Pupp so she can enjoy the gastronomical delights of her favorite chef, Didier (the charming Depardieu). The Queen is as appealing as ever, even in this warmed-over comedy, which is a remake of the 1950 Alec Guinness comedy.
