The cute, mischievous chimp and The Man in the Yellow Hat (Ferrell) take a pleasant trip to the big screen. The New York museum where TMitYH works is having financial trouble, so he ventures to Africa to find a lost idol that will bring in the crowds. Along the way he meets George, who has been having fun with his jungle playmates. George takes a liking to The Man after a game of peek-a-boo and manages to follow him back to NYC. George's playful and curious nature gets The Man in trouble with the museum owner's son, who wants to close the museum and build a parking garage. The animation and story are simplistic, but that's just fine with the target audience of pre-schoolers and elementary-agers. The adults will find a few chuckle-worthy gags here and there, as well.
