Smile Movie Review 2005

Well-off teenager Katie (Boorem) wants to find more meaning to life beyond her bickering parents and her boyfriend's sexual pressuring so she joins an international reconstructive surgery charity that sends her to China to help Ling (Ding), a girl of the same age whose disfigured face has plagued her entire life. Based on director Kramer's own daughter. Uplifting message is obscured by poor execution.
