As Harriet (Miller) suffers through the loss of her husband from his WWII tour of duty, her tomboy daughter Carrie (Orr) deals with the pain by angrily shutting her mom out, particularly when Harriet moves on with the highbrow Bernard (Basche) causing Carrie to seek comfort from Charlie (Anderson), a mentally-challenged and troubled local farmhand. Showtime cable coming-of-age drama feels more like a tearjerker-of-the-week Lifetime channel show.
