It's hard to fault a movie that's ostensibly about Charlize Theron in spandex shooting people, so why bother trying? Based on the MTV cartoon, Kusama's sci fi/actioner is a goofy guilty pleasure that succeeds largely due to Theron's on-screen charisma. Set 400 years in the future, after a plague has wiped out most of humanity, survivors live in a walled city called Bregna, ruled by the fascist government of Trevor Goodchild (Csokas). A resistance movement sends their top assassin, Aeon Flux (Theron), to dispatch Goodchild, but Aeon soon realizes that there might be some disturbing truths behind her brave new world. Sure, things get cheesy, but Kusama has a lot of fun with her wonky futuristic designs.
