In 19th century England, Mrs. Bennet (Blethyn) must marry her daughters off to the right men, but headstrong daughter Elizabeth (Knightley) proves difficult. More manageable in scope than the BBC miniseries, this version is gorgeous and classic nonetheless, losing none of the essence of the story. Knightley brings a welcomed force and passion to her portrayal of Lizzie that, for some reason, brought mixed reviews. Sutherland is excellent as the brood's bemused patriarch.
