Director Wenders takes on some post-9/11 angst in this well-meaning digital video feature. Lana (Williams), the daughter of missionaries, arrives in LA after living in the Middle East. She takes a job at a homeless shelter while she searches for her long-estranged Uncle Paul (Diehl). Paul is a troubled Vietnam vet who has become a self-appointed homeland security expert--traveling the streets in a van filled with surveillance equipment. The two finally meet, and bond, over their mutual sense of helplessness and confusion.
