Longtime bachelor Throckmorton Gildersleeve (Peary) has finally proposed to girlfriend Matilda (Doran) when he decides to make a trip to New York. He has two purposes: to track down niece Margie's (Landry) wandering beau Jimmy (Road) and to help out town druggist Mr. Peavey (LeGrand), which leads him into the company of lonely widow (and pharmaceutical company owner) Laura (Burke). Soon there are three women, including blonde babe Francine (Carleton), after our man. Third of four films based on the radio serial "The Great Gildersleeve."
