Baseball comedy about rookie Cubs pitcher Frank Farrell (rubbery-faced comedian Brown), who is known as "Alibi Ike" because he's always making excuses, driving his manager Cap (Frawley) and his teammates crazy. He can't even be straight with his gal, Dolly (de Havilland). Next, Frank gets into trouble with gamblers who want him to throw games but he comes through in the end. Adapted from a story by Ring Lardner.
