Over-stuffed romantic comedy from Crowe begins with the career meltdown of Drew Baylor (Bloom with a so-so American accent). Before Drew can wallow in suicidal depression, his manic mother Hollie (Sarandon) and sister Heather (Greer) inform Drew that dad died while visiting his hometown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Drew must deal with the funeral arrangements. This leads to his meeting cute but psychotically perky flight attendant Claire (Dunst), who decides she must console Drew at all costs. Drew discovers things about himself and his family that you may not care about at all, and takes a road trip--accompanied, as per usual in Crowe's movies, by copious amounts of music.
