Centered around North African immigrant Krimo (Elkharraz), a closed-up teenager living in a Paris suburb whose emotional walls force girlfriend Magali (Ganito) to dump him. He quickly finds a new love interest in the extroverted Lydia (Forestier) and pushes his way into a school play to be near her. The camera provides a close view of the many effusive confrontations between the teenaged cast, all of whom are played by acting neophyte residents of the working class suburb where the film is set. Many of the themes explored are universal to the teen movie genre. This film, Kechiche's second effort, has been an award-winning hit in France.
