Young pals David and Frank both aspire to be ministers, but a family clash leads David on another path. Fifteen years later, David (Kodjoe) is now a hot pop star who returns to his minister father (Powell) and his father's church, which are both ailing. Not without bumps, romance, and clashes of will, David has to lead the church back to fiscal freedom. Gospel heavy hitters clinch the tunes, and American Idol finalist Tamyra Gray shows up, as well. Simple but effective (even non-preachy) plot and loads of solid gospel music will make fans very happy.
