Rachida is a young school teacher in terror-stricken 1990s Algeria. When stopped by street kids who demand she place a bomb in her classroom, she refuses. Shot point-blank and left for dead, Rachida miraculously survives. Under the care of her mother, far from the dangers of the city life, she begins to recover. Still, the struggle to find hope in such a violent world proves difficult for everyone. An unflinching portrait of fear with a brave performance from Djouadi; promising debut from writer/director Bachir. Arabic and French with English subtitles.
