Based on a novel by Jonathon Safran Foer, the film follows the journey of Jonathon (Wood), a fastidious New Yorker attempting to locate the Ukrainian woman he feels saved his grandfather from the Nazis. After traveling to the Ukraine, Jonathon employs Alex (Hutz), who narrates the film, and his grandfather (Leskin) as tour guides. The two specialize in taking "rich Jewish people" on trips to find ancestral homes and relatives. The beauty of the film is in finding its way from the humorous early scenes to the solemn conclusion.
