Elliot Sherman (Showalter) is so CPA mega-nerd even his sweet grandmother knows he's "the Baxter," the also-ran, the nice, safe, dull guy who never gets the girl. In the opening scene he's dumped at the altar by his beautiful fiancee Caroline (Banks) when her high school flame Bradley (Theroux) reappears. You might want to feel something for Elliot, but he's so unlikable that sympathy will be hard to find. Soon it becomes apparent that Elliot's office temp Cecil (Williams), who has been right there under his nose, is the perfect woman for him.
