Based on bestseller Frederick Forsyth's book Icon. Jason Monk (Swayze), an ex-CIA agent, comes out of retirement to save an entire country from the brink of ruin. Russian presidential candidate Igor Komarov (Bergin) promises his people a new Russia, but his plan is based on a secret "Black Manifesto" that lays a foundation for dictatorship and military rule, among other evils. Monk's also charged with seeking out Anatoli Grishin (Cross), an evil KGB officer whom Monk has a personal vendetta against. Forsyth fans may be disappointed by the many deviations from the book; breathtaking Russian scenery and some thrilling suspense may make up for it.
