Jeannette, a wealthy, alcoholic Frenchwoman, lives with African American gay painter, Martin, under sadly codependent circumstances. Sierra, her estranged daughter, shows up one winter day with her new husband, coincidently also African American, to collect on a promised inheritance. What unfolds is a scenario of shifting alliances that shadow the entanglement of racial prejudice, sexual orientation and addiction. Shooting in eight days on a $5,000 budget, Young presents an admirable effort.
