Rusty (Hatosy) and Dallas (Caan) waste away their lives in a cycle of drinking, bar fights, and minor arrests--always to be bailed out by Rusty's mother Mary (Lynch). Mary puts her son in therapy and through unconventional methods he starts to see a better life for himself, though Dallas hurtles further toward the dark side. The subplot romance between the mother and therapist (Goldblum) is engaging but lacks depth. Conclusion provides a surprise emotional tug.
