Predictably cliched sports drama based on a true story. Title refers to Madison, Indiana, a hard-luck community that, by 1971, has little going for it but a tradition of hydroplane racing and a chance to host the Gold Cup tournament. It also has all-around great guy Jim McCormick (Caviezel), a former pilot of the community-owned race boat, the Miss Madison. Both McCormick and Miss Madison have seen better days but golly, Jim just has to make his son Mike (Lloyd) proud. There's nothing actually wrong with the film (which sat on the shelf since 2001) but, boy, have you seen this story before.
