Marty the Zebra (Rock) just turned 10 and he wants to escape the comfortable confines of New York's Central Park Zoo and head off into "the wild" (okay, Connecticut). Aided by a group of sassy penguins, he makes his break, but his zoo buddies--Alex the Lion (Stiller), Gloria the Hippo (Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (Schwimmer)--escape to stop him. Things go awry and the authorities ship them off to a Kenyan animal reserve. Things go more awry and the group ends up on the shores of Madagascar. A romp for the kids with lots of pizzazz but not much substance. Adults will find some "Shrek"-type jokes to enjoy, but this one's mainly for the kiddies.
