Travellers & Magicians Movie Review 2003

Dondup is bored in his tiny mountain village and has aspirations to enter America's world of plenty, yet as he embarks on his journey he is frazzled at every turn. Along the way he encounters a friendly monk with a gift for storytelling who tries to talk Dondup out of his materialist desires. Beautiful juxtaposition of two worlds, in technical effects and words, demonstrates the pitfalls of materialism and human carnality as viewed in Buddhist teachings. In Dzongkha with subtitles.
