Inside Deep Throat Movie Review 2005

Respectable documentary about the landmark porno blockbuster "Deep Throat." Mixes old and new interviews, newsreel footage, and, yes, full-on, full-frontal clips to tell the story of an enterprising hairdresser, Gerard Damiano, who dared to make a porno "film," not a porno "flick." He set out to build a story, create some characters, and inject some (admittedly pretty dumb) humor. He wasn't marketing to the old men in raincoats out for a quick peep, but aiming at couples looking to goose their relationship. It worked. Made for only $25,000, it went on to become the most profitable movie in history, grossing over $600 million. Since Universal produced the documentary, we're thankfully spared gratuitous reenactments.
