Kitchen Stories Movie Review 2003

Subversive Scandinavian comedy set in the 1950s. A number of scientific observers from Sweden's Home Research Institute are sent to collect data from the homes of confirmed bachelors living in the rural community of Landstad, Norway. The idea is to track domestic habits and then standardize the average household kitchen for maximum efficiency. Folke (Norstrom) is sent to the tiny home of codger Isak (Calmeyer), who initially makes things as difficult as possible. The men slowly begin to bond even as the study begins to fall apart. Swedish and Norwegian with subtitles.
