Set in 1976 in South Africa, the volatile antihero of the title (played with bravado by Jane) is the youngest police captain in Johannesburg and is in charge of the riot patrol during a Soweto protest march that quickly turns violent. Guilt-stricken after killing an unarmed black youth, Andre Stander realizes that the police are so busy enforcing apartheid that a white criminal can get away with anything. To test his theory, he robs a bank, and then another bank, and then more. Eventually arrested, Stander, along with mates McCall (Fletcher) and Heyl (O'Hara), breaks out of prison and goes on another bank-robbing spree and into the annals of folk hero notoriety. Loosely based on a true story.
