A movie designed for tweenies who worship the chirpy Duff. This trifle finds Valley teen Samantha (Duff) bereft after the death of her father and stuck slaving for pea-brained stepmom Fiona (Coolidge) and her vicious twin daughters. Sam's only consolation is an email flirtation with a poetic soul who's actually the school's hottie football star Austin (Murray). Thanks to fairy godmother Rhonda (King), the cute twosome hook up at the Halloween dance but, alas, Sam slips out before revealing her true identity to hunk boy (although she does leave behind her cell phone). Of course, it's all so sugary that anyone who's not a 12-and-under girl will probably gag.
