Remake of the spooky 70's classic. Joanna Eberhart (Kidman) is a successful television network executive fired after a reality show disaster. Joanna, her husband Walter (Broderick) and their family move to the seemingly perfect Connecticut town of Stepford. Strangely enough, the impeccably perfect bombshell women of Stepford have no other interests than housecleaning and making their rather nerdy-looking husbands happy. Trades eerie suspense of the original for campy comedy. While there are some well placed barbs and one-liners, plot holds no surprises and loses the satirical edge of the source material. Walker, as the community leader who holds the secret to Stepford, and Midler as a fellow outsider, do well in their respective roles.
