Hussein (Emadeddin) is a simple, war-veteran-turned-pizza-deliveryman, but the opening sequence shows him in the midst of a botched jewelry-store robbery that ends abruptly and grimly--resulting in tragedy. What follows are flashbacks (compelling yet often slow-paced) that attempt to define his behavior and the social rejection that led him down his destructive path. Set in Tehran and based on a true story, this has--like other Panahi films--been banned in Iran. Farsi with subtitles.
