Sydney, Australia garage band tries to hit it big in this goofy comedy directed by Proyas. Freddy (Gurry) just wants to make it big as the singer of a rock and roll band, but he has to cope with the quirks and problems of his bandmates: girlfriend/bassist Tanya (Miranda), guitarist with an identity crisis Joe (Stiller), and dedicated drug user/drummer Lucy (Sadrinna) who spends more time creating pharmaceutical cocktails than practicing the drums. Further complicating the mix is the attraction between Freddy and Joe's girlfriend, Kate (Stange) and the band's misguided attempt to blackmail a big-time manager (Csokas) to come see them play. Proyas fills the movie with inventive visuals and keeps the comedy level high, but with characters that alternate between appealing and one-dimensional, and a familiar plot, some may find too little substance to go with the style.
