Disney strikes again with this zany Pinocchio story about a blue dog who wants to become a real boy like his owner Leonard (Fleming). Wanna-be Spot (Lane) dresses as a boy (named Scott) and follows Leonard to school until he discovers his chance: a mad scientist named Ivan Krank (Grammar) who claims to be able to change animals into people. Unfortunately, no one considers Spot's "dog years," which cause him to end up not a boy but a middle-aged man. Creative script and visual style, excellent performances by Lane and Grammar, and loads of wit and charm make this an above-average cartoon that appeals to children and parents alike. Based on the ABC cartoon.
