Altman delivers another fine ensemble work, this time dealing with the inner workings of the Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. Campbell stars as Ry, an up and coming ballerina struggling to establish herself. But even her story takes a backseat to the dancing and the behind-the-scenes business of creating a ballet. Strong cast, most of whom are dancers and not actors, makes for compelling viewing. Campbell, who once studied ballet before turning to acting, collaborated on the story as a personal project.
