In 1995, British Rail is privatized and a portion of the South Yorkshire line is now serviced by two competing companies. The new owners break up the union system--some of the former workers decide to retire while others, including four friends, have to stick it out. Since fewer men are employed in maintaining the railway depot and lines, accidents increase and the increased stress just isn't professional but personal as well.
