El Bola Movie Review 2000

A graphic portrayal of child abuse. 12-year-old Pablo (Ballesta) is nicknamed "Bola" or "Pellet" because he carries a small wooden ball as a good luck charm. Which he needs since his embittered father Mariano (Maron) regularly beats him. Pablo is quick to make friends with new kid in school, Alfredo (Galan), who eventually tells his own father, Jose (Gimenez), about the bruises he's seen on Pablo's body. Jose wants to get involved but it's not as simple as it seems. Spanish with subtitles.
