Tried-and-true horse opera adapted from the novel by Jack Schaefer and a remake of the 1970 film. Aging cowpoke Monte Walsh (Selleck) realizes that life in 1892 Wyoming's Antelope Junction is changing. An eastern company is taking over the western free-range society and fewer cowboys are making a living. Monte has his loyal love Martine (Rossellini) to sustain him, but pal Chet (Carradine) needs a way to support his family and hot-headed Shorty (Eads) has turned to crime. Selleck has become a comfortable old hand at these roles; the pleasures may be undemanding but they're still present.
