Sentimental story about making peace with your past and your family. Successful L.A. lawyer Terry McQuinn (Sinise) returns to Maine when his father dies. A caretaker for wealthy summer home people, the senior McQuinn and Terry were long estranged. Katherine Wentworth (Richardson) also has parental issues--her father abandoned the family after a tragic car accident and her wealthy mother is a much-remarried cold fish. Terry remembers Katherine from a childhood tragedy and they are gradually drawn together for a second chance at love and family. Snyder adapted from his novel.
