After their 2-year old son dies from a brain tumor, Johnny (Considine) and Sarah (Morton) Sheridan leave Ireland with their family and head for America. The family deals with poverty and personal struggles while trying to create a better life. Real life sisters Sarah and Emma Bolger steal every scene they're in as the young Sheridans, not an easy task with this top-notch group. Honsou stands out as a dying artist neighbor. Based on the experiences of director Jim Sheridan, who co-wrote with daughters Kirsten and Naomi. Well-paced and uplifting.
