Rancid remake of Hooper's 1974 classic horror original stars Biel and much more blood and gore than actual chills. Once again, five teenagers take a journey across Texas and pick up a mysterious hitchhiker who blows her brains out in their van after uttering a prophetic warning that they will all die. Enter Leatherface (Bryniarski) and his famously phallic chainsaw hacking up the horny teens to his evil heart's delight. Gruesome highlight as Leatherface has a literal face-off with Biel. Director Nispel, weaned on music videos, has a slicker looking product than the micro-budget original but far less of the palpable tension and shocking originality of its predecessor.
