Far-fetched thriller gets by on the charms of its lead. Matt Lee Whitlock (Washington) is an easy-going police chief in a sleepy Florida town who is having an affair with Ann (Lathan), who's married to jealous Chris (Cain). Ann reveals she has cancer and Matt decides to "borrow" money he recovered in a drug bust and give it to Ann to help with her treatment. Then, there's a mysterious fire, a couple of charred bodies, and soon Matt is trying to stay one step ahead of a criminal investigation being lead by his estranged wife Alex (Mendes). He may not be an innocent but Matt's not a murderer either, and he has to figure out who's setting him up.
