Ill-begotten social satire stars Kudrow as the title character, who takes over for dad Ben (director Benjamin) at his record company after he suffers a heart attack. When the the lyrics of Dr. S (Wayans), the label's top rapper, provoke conservative U.S. Senator Spinkle (Baranski) to attempt to ban the rapper's songs, the uptown, Jewish Marci tries to smooth things over and ends up falling for the Dr.'s downtown charms. Culture clash comedy has its moments, but is ultimately too predictable and the characters too one-dimensional to care about. Rap soundtrack is similarly uninspired, except a hilarious number by the fictitious boy band, Boyz 'R' Us.
