Four mysteries featuring Adela Bradley (Rigg), author, criminologist, and wealthy wit, set in the British countryside in the 1920s. "Death at the Opera" finds Mrs. Bradley investigating the death of an art teacher at her alma mater. In "The Rising of the Moon" the knife thrower's assistant in a traveling carnival is the first victim in a series of murders. "Laurels Are Poison" has a haunted house, a sexy gardener, and a murdered cook and "The Worsted Viper" involves a marriage and devil worship in a seaside village. These versions have little to do with creator Glays Smith's books but Mrs. B has lots of style and a clever confidante in George the chauffeur (Dudgeon).
