Irreversible Movie Review 2002

The rape scene is nine minutes long. If you're still willing to sit through this abrasive flick after knowing that, here's the story (which is told backwards). Marcus (Cassel) and Pierre (Dupontel) are being led away from a gay S&M club where a murder has occurred. They have sought revenge for what happened to Marcus's lover Alex (Bellucci). Earlier, Marcus fought with Alex at a party and she leaves alone--to be brutalized into a coma by a thug (Prestia) in an underground pedestrian tunnel. Then we see the trio, Pierre is an old friend of Alex's and is jealous of Marcus, going to the party and expecting to have fun. Everyone's destined to be disappointed. French with subtitles.
