Homicide detective Emmett Young (Wolf) has been told by his doctor that he has a terminal illness and only a short time to live. To avoid the disease's debilitating effects, Emmett takes up the offer of a mysterious stranger (Byrne) to arrange for a hit man (Roth) to do the job quickly. Of course, Emmett discovers he's not really dying (ALWAYS get a second opinion about a terminal disease) and tries to call the hit off.
