Solas Movie Review 1999

Hard-drinking, embittered Maria (Fernandez) moves into an apartment in a run-down Seville neighborhood and gets a job cleaning offices. Her abusive father (De Osca) is in a nearby hospital and Maria's patient mother Rosa (Galiana) temporarily moves in with her resentful daughter. Rosa has always made the best of what life has given her and she soon befriends Maria's courtly neighbor (Alvarez-Novoa) while Maria continues to get involved with the wrong men and make bad choices. Spanish with subtitles.
