The curiosity factor is at least high, even if the family drama seems familiar. Michael Douglas co-stars with father Kirk, as well as mom Diana (Kirk's first wife), and Cameron, the son from his first marriage. They're the Grombergs, a Jewish upper-middle class professional family living in Manhattan. Alex (Michael) is a lawyer; dad Mitchell (Kirk) founded the firm. Alex's marriage to Rebecca (Peters) is strained and their older son Asher (Cameron) is troubled. Only Mitchell and wife Evelyn (Diana) seem to have found a measure of peace despite Mitchell's still recovering from a stroke. There's a lot of bickering until the true meaning of family comes through.
