Roy (Cage) is a small time con man suffering from a host of psychological tics, including obsessive-compulsive disorder, who's urged by his longtime partner (Rockwell) into a "really big score." Enter a teenage daughter, Angela (Lohman), he never knew. While Roy occasionally displays a kind of smug pride in his work as a con "artist," being with the ever-more-present Angela causes Roy to admit that he actually has little to be truly proud of. Cage is at the top of his game, and he and Rockwell play off each other perfectly, while Lohman proves a worthy co-star as well. Director Scott mixes just the right amounts of comedy, drama, and suspense. Adapted from the novel by Eric Garcia.
