No, it's not a Springsteen documentary, it's an enjoyable, if slight, Jim Carrey comedy. Carrey is Bruce Nolan, a TV reporter stuck with the fluff stories and longing to be taken seriously. He gets his chance when God (Freeman) decides to turn over the reins for a day and gives Bruce his divine powers. The comedy set-pieces are well done, and Carrey can do a lot with a little (at least in his comedies), but the overall effect is less laugh-out-loud funny than fans of the earlier Carrey-Shadyac pairings would expect. Aniston's not given much to do, but Carrell and Freeman stand out among the supporting cast.
