Daniel Deronda (Dancy) is the handsome, upright young ward of Sir Hugo Malinger (Fox), who dreams of doing something with his life in 1875 Victorian England. Two women will influence his decisions. The first is the headstrong Gwendolen Harleth (Garai), who will make a devil's bargain when she agrees to marry the wealthy and possessive Henleigh Grandcourt (Bonneville) to rescue her family from penury. The second is Jewess Mira Lapidoth (May), whom Daniel saves from drowning. He aids her singing career and helps her search for her family--a search that will lead to revelations about Daniel's own past. Last novel by George Eliot.
