"First Blood" meets "The Fugitive" in Friedkin's newest chase thriller. Ex-Special Forces member Hallam (Del Toro) comes back from Kosovo severely messed up and heads to the Oregon woods, fileting hunters who use high-powered scopes to stalk their prey. Apparently he's joined PETA's paramilitary wing. Jones is Bonham, the man who trained him in the arts of stalking, killing, and surviving, and must now stop him. He's teamed with female FBI agent Durrell (Nielsen), who doesn't realize she's brought a gun to knife fight. She (as well as plot) is basically window dressing, as Friedkin is clearly more concerned with the grunt-inducing mano-a-mano action scenes and car chases. It's a good thing they're well done, because the meditation of the good and evil that men do doesn't cut it.
