Inspector Thomas Lynley (Parker) just so happens to also be the eighth Earl of Asherton. His new partner is working-class Barbara Havers (Small), who deeply resents what she sees as Lynley's privileged life and she's not the only one. Still, Lynley is very good at his job and their first case together is a rural murder where a farmer is found decapitated and his traumatized daughter is the primary suspect. Based on the mysteries by Elizabeth George.
